Habs GM Kent Hughes – Greatest Move of His Career…

Written by:

If you were to tell a Habs fan a couple weeks ago in advance that they were going to give away their 1st round picks + Heineman + Mailloux and still not have gotten a 2C out of it, they would have shit their pants and talked about how this is the fugliest off season of all time.

However, going the other way was Noah Dobson – who’s going to be an RD stud for years to come. But also Zac Bolduc, who is going to be a top 6 forward stud for years to come. What’s crazy is that those deals in hindsight don’t compare to the overall effect that Hughes has produced for the city of Montreal.

Hughes has made Montreal a desirable destination to play for again. This is absolutely HUGE. I can’t remember the last time there was this much hype and excitement around this organization. It’s to the point where you have top players in the league and prospects just salivating for the chance to play at the Bell Center. 4 Nations tourney also helped out. The world got to see how insane it is to play in that arena and the trickle effect from that is visible now.

Montreal is looking to get that cup in the next five years or so and I have to give major props to Jeff Gorton and Kent Hughes because they are killing it as of late.

B+ ranking for this offseason for the boys so far. Once they solidify somebody as THE 2C, than were cooking with gas.
